Default Connector servers

We have not yet virtualized any mailbox server but we have virtualized our connector server and an OWA server with no issues what so ever, in fact ther performance is better then the physical boxes they came from.

have you virtualized mailbox servers and if you have, any good?

I have not yet virtualized a mailbox server. But it is something that I have looked into on sevaral occasions. In all honesty the whole concept just keeps going over me. I have been trying to use How to virtualize a mail server as a reference. It has helped me understand the idea a whole lt better and I am currently doing more research before getting started again.

Default Exchange Virtualization

i currently virtualization my entire exchange setup. what i did was this:
i have two virtual servers and i put the mailbox role for 2007 on one server and the clientaccess/hubtransport role on the other server. this has made a very clean and quick virtualization setup for exchange. and it runs very well. i am running this on 2 x intel core 2 duo 2.3Ghz 1333 FSB systems, with 8gb ram each and windows server 2003 R2 x64/Vmware server 1.0.7

also, the virtual machines for exchange are all 64bit server 2003 r2, of course.

i am also virtualizing one domain controller, a sql server and a sharepoint webserver between these two boxes and everything runs VERY fast.

i will outline the setup here:

Vserver1:
Domain controller Locally
Virtual:
exchange 07 mailbox role
Sql Server 2005

Vserver2:
Nothing locally
Virtual:
second DC
Sharepoint Web server
client access/hub transport roles exchange 07

i'll be happy to answer questions if the above isnt clear.
